Brian Sowards is the Chief Pirate of JP. He's on a quest to skill-up every freelancer on earth to become technical. A peak inside one of JP's most brilliant minds.
For Brain Sowards, aka Black Beard, it was meant to be from birth that he end up in tech startups. How so? His birthplace was in the capital of startup incorporation; Delaware. After starting his first tech startup at the young age of 16 (still got ya beat, hehe), he ventured off into multiple different corporate & startup roles in big cities, ultimately ending up in NYC, where he started his last successful startup, Funderbolt, a platform that allowed students to raise money for tuition and educational expenses. Dr.Sowards built that company into a scaled real world entrepreneurship program, with placement in 40 universities across 3 countries, and relocated to Silicon Valley, where he ended up being based out of for years. Students experienced great success on Funderbolt, raising over $5M for their projects. In spring of 2019, Brian & co exited to CampusLogic, an AZ-based EdTech startup. Since the exit, Brian has become infatuated with a new vertical of technology; one in which he claims will inevitably change the world. Furthermore, he’s decided to put down roots in Tempe, AZ. So, with that groundwork not set, let’s dive into the next quest for Dr.Sowards, shall we?
